The Magical Dimension

2018

Personally I can't stand being here most of the time.
I know a way out of this hell though.
You can always be at two places at once, did you know?
The real world and the magical world.
Or, if you prefer the term: The Magical Dimension.

(Quote from film)

This is the Trailer to The Magical Dimension animated short, 7 min written and directed by Gudrun Krebitz 2018 Soundmix/Sounddesign: Marian Mentrup MACO Studio Venice world sales: sixpackfilm Filmmakers of many types have long been drawn to the complex “mytho-poetic” realm of dreams, trance-states, meditative solitude, the underworld, the deepest ocean, the darkest crypt ... Gudrun Krebitz names it the “magical dimension”, and her oneiric film is at once both an immersion in this shadowy, intoxicating realm, and a critical, self-doubting, reflexive examination of it. Freely mixing live footage and animation, using pictorial superimpositions and a multi-layered sound design (...) her film intermingles snatches of Berlin and Venice, in its impressionistic passage through an inner, ever transforming landscape. EXOMOON

2016

Because she has been alone for a really long time and there's just no one else, she might as well live on the moon.

Achill

2012

Real excitement is always kind of out of focus. Unfortunately. All joy lies buried in a blind rush and hasty perceptions. That's why I never got my eyes lasered.

I know you

2010

Using the very basic elements of the animated film, yet twisting and distorting them in a surprising way, this film creates a mental landscape where anxiety, self- doubt and grim humour reign. The accuracy of this image allows the film to expand from the very personal into something that we all can recognize. The best animation prize is given to I know you by Gudrun Krebitz“
